Las Vegas, NV (AHN) – Motorola Inc. introduced a cell phone made from recycled plastic water bottles.
The MOTO W233 Renew’s plastic housing is not only made of recycled material, but the company said the device is the first “carbon neutral” phone.
“Through an alliance with Carbonfund.org, Motorola offsets the carbon dioxide required to manufacture, distribute and operate the phone through investments in renewable energy sources and reforestation,” Motorola said in a press release.
The box the phone comes in is also made from recycled material, according to the media release. There is also a postage-paid box inside the package made of recycled paper that customers can mail their old phones back to Motorola for recycling.
